At Muirhouse Neighbourhood Garden, the LAH team have taken on the challenging task of converting four disused garages into a community garden shed and hub. In total, twelve participants have so far contributed to the build, many of whom have brought lots of relevant experience to the project. Construction began in October 2023 with Workshop Leader Seal, and the team have since been busy knocking down the existing garage walls, building new stud walls, and fixing the existing roofs. One of the most challenging parts of the project has been navigating our ever-temperamental Scottish weather; nevertheless, come rain or shine, we’ve been pleased to see many participants lending their skills to build this important community asset.

The project is ongoing and we hope to see it completed in June 2024 – just in time for summer and in the midst of growing season! We’re looking forward to seeing how the community enjoy and use the space.
