We were delighted to welcome Pippa and Greta to the team in January! Read on to learn more about what they’ll be doing, what they hope to achieve, and what knowledge they bring to their roles.
Greta: Growing Youth Development Officer
I’m Greta, and I’m excited to be starting this new part-time role as Edible Estates’ Growing Youth Development Officer. I have previously worked with children, young people, and adults from various backgrounds, and have been involved in different community growing and outdoor education projects across Edinburgh since finishing my MSc in Food Security a few years ago. As the new Growing Youth Development Officer, I will be working to help expand the Growing Youth project, and build upon the programme’s benefits and outcomes. Over the coming year, I will be working closely with the Growing Youth team, as well as our partner organisations, in an effort to provide Growing Youth participants with more opportunities, such as certified learning and pathways towards positive destinations.

Pippa: Community Garden Development Officer
I’m Pippa, and I have recently started as Community Garden Development Officer at Edible Estates. I will be working on our Community Garden Work Programme delivered on behalf of City of Edinburgh Council. My role will involve working alongside communities to make the most of their growing projects, by offering support to attract new participants, programme events and workshops, and organise community growing groups.
I have a background in community growing and food projects, and love working with people to make a positive impact on both communities, and more widely, our planet. I’m also a keen grower, and am therefore particularly looking forward to learning from all the wonderful gardeners across the city. I also have a passion for knitting, so expect to see me in wonky hats and jumpers!
Contact Pippa at pippa@edibleestates.scot or 07549431528 for more information about the projects she will be working on, or to share your ideas.
