Edinburgh Community Backgreens Association

Re:Solution was responsible for the conception and set-up of Edinburgh Community Backgreens Association in 2005-6.  Re:Solution’s principal, Greig Robertson led the development of the organisation between 2004 – 2012, during which time the organisation established fifteen ‘community backgreen’ projects in Edinburgh.

During 2006 – 2011, ECBA received funding to hire a development team who worked with volunteers from each site.  In 2011, ECBA transitioned to volunteer led delivery of projects after funding dried up.

In 2009 the Dig For Victory Edinburgh campaign was launched by Re:Solution for ECBA.  It comprises of a social networking site, and a set of promotional and course/workshop materials based on the Dig For Victory WWII campaign.

Our design brief was to develop a strong identity which could run through all of ECBA’s promotional & training materials.  The main image for the campaign was edited from a 1940’s poster, and the course notes for the Grow Your Own course and affiliated workshops use a simple but effective template based on 1940’s typography.
