Craigmillar

The development of community growing projects in Craigmillar and adjoining communities is led by our local area partner, the Community Alliance Trust, (CAT).  The process started in 2015 with the delivery of a community growing study by Re:Solution to investigate opportunities in Magdalene, Bingham and Niddrie Mill.  The first project on the ground was Magdalene neighbourhood garden in 2016, followed by Bingham neighbourhood garden in 2018.

Since then, CAT has gone on to start a community food growing hub project in partnership with Bristo Memorial Church, a Home Grown service to support  folk during Covid, and are working on opening a Community Pantry in 2021.

Community Growing Study

The study was delivered in 2015 by Re:Solution consultants on behalf of the Community Alliance Trust.  It investigated opportunities for community growing projects in the Magdalene, Bingham and Niddrie Mill estates.

The study can be downloaded here :- Study (9.4Mb)
