First Forth Community Food Growing Project To Proceed

September 6, 2012

We received confirmation at the end of August that the first of the Forth Community Food Growing Sites has been funded.   The project will result in the renovation of a courtyard greenspace into a ring of growing plots with a community recreation space within.

The project will be delivered by a combination of contractor build and community self-build.  We are waiting to hear whether planning permission will be required.  If so we hope to be on site in a couple of months.

The project has come out of a community participative design exercise delivered by Re:Solution on behalf of Edinburgh Council in the community of Wardieburn in north Edinburgh.  Our hope is that, if we can demonstrate the success of the model, up to twenty sites will be delivered along similar lines.  We have set up a Facebook for the project which you can like to follow project news.
